Selection: The Mechanism of Evolution
Graham Bell
I used this book to augment my material in Prof. Bell's class at McGill, and it covers the same material to a similar depth, but has the advantage of speaking slowly. He is a rare kind of expert with both depth and breadth of understanding and the ability to write luxuriantly logical prose. I loved reading this book. this book assumes a basic foundation in evolution and population genetics. as an introduction to the topic fo selection, it is best supplemented by undergraduate level topical reviews from journals such as Trends in Ecology and Evolution
